Hearing that promotion call, " CKLW, THE MOTOR CITY", has great memories for me. Got my first AM transistor radio in the 60's, and this was the station I listened to walking to school and back, as I was that " COOL JERK". Thanks for the memories, and I had the great pleasure to meet Pat StJohn a few years back.

Grew up listening to CKLW, back in the 60s and 70s, what a station! The music was the best!

Friday night, 6 o’clock, Squaw Rock.

Yeah, the "Super Q" moniker doesn't seem to fit well with satellite-fed adult contemporary and Celine Dion ballads... but it's nice they're acknowledging their history. It's a better name than "Eagle" anyway which sounds like it belongs on a classic rock or country station. I actually remember picking up WQIO, as well as 94.3 WDIF out of Marion, one fall morning in 1994 from the northern suburbs of Detroit before leaving for school. Not sure when WQIO shifted its format to AC, but they were pretty downtempo by then, in fact I remember thinking I'd caught an Easy Listening station at first! Definitely not the high-energy presentation you hear here. I was going to say Akron, Canton and Elyria sound like an overly optimistic estimate of the station's coverage area... but WQIO's signal often makes it into southeast Michigan during summer tropo, and the FM dial was a lot cleaner in the late '80s before the translator/LPFM infestation, so it likely was doable back then.
